A New Look for the Superman Celebration Metropolis, IL- Faster than a speeding bullet, time is approaching for the 39th Annual Superman Celebration. With less than 100 days until the start of the event, the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce has unveiled the brand new www.supermancelebration.net.

Not only will you find a clean, easy to navigate new website, the announcement of 3 Celebrity Guests can also be found on the vibrant new homepage. “This year we are dedicating the Superman Celebration to the memory of Noel Neill, so we only found it fitting to have celebrities that played Lois Lane be a part of the event,” stated Celebration co-chair Karla Ogle. Erica Durance starred as Lois Lane on the hit show Smallville for 7 years. Durance will be making her first visit to Metropolis’ flagship event this year. Joining Ms. Durance will be a repeat guest and favorite Lois Lane, Margot Kidder. Kidder portrayed the Superman love interest in Superman I, Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Rounding out the current guest list is Sarah Douglas, who’s villainess ways as “Ursa” were often targeted at Lois Lane (Kidder) in Superman I and Superman II.

“There are several goals with the redesign of the website,” says Trish Steckenrider, Director of Tourism for Metropolis, who also oversees the marketing for the Superman Celebration. “Because the event has so many facets we want visitors to be able to easily find the information they need. Not only that, this event would not happen without area sponsors, so we wanted to make sure the new site gave sponsors the opportunities to be seen by the many visitors that come to our website to plan their trips.” The Superman Celebration planning committee is still finalizing the event details and when completed a schedule of events will be added to the site that details the events with descriptions, locations and times.

“We are always proud of this event, but we are very excited for the Superman Celebration this year. Noel Neill will always hold a special place in our hearts, so it is only right we dedicate this year to her,” said Lisa Gower co-chair of the Superman Celebration. Special events to honor Ms. Neill will be announced on the website and Superman Celebration Social Media pages soon.
