Vendors may have access to their space after 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6 and MUST be completely set up by 10:00 am on Friday, June 7. The celebration will run from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 pm on Friday & Saturday, and 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on Sunday. ALL VENDORS MUST REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL CLOSE OF CELEBRATION ON SUNDAY, June 9, 2024.

Because tents and other attractions will be going up at the same time, you will need to enter Market Street from 5th, 6th, or 7th Streets East of Market Street. Please keep in mind stock trucks are parked on 6th, 7th and 8th Streets, so please do not block those spaces.

No personal vehicles will be allowed to park on the Superman Square, on Market Street, in the alleys or beyond the barricades on side streets during the Celebration. There are several parking lots and other parking spaces nearby. Please also be courteous to customer parking for businesses located on Market Street.

No stock trucks will be allowed on Superman Square OR on Market Street. Spaces will be available to purchase on the side streets off Market Street. Recreational vehicles are not allowed in the stock truck spaces. A campground is located at Fort Massac State Park (618-524-4712) if you would like to stay in a recreational vehicle, you will not be permitted to park one in the Market Street area for the purpose of lodging, or as a stock truck.

Vendors are NOT allowed to promote their business by use of any type of hawking by natural or amplified means. A public-address system is used through the duration of the celebration to promote the various events. This will be the onlyannouncement system permitted. The Celebration is a family event and vendors are expected to behave professionally during the event. NO foul language, lewd behavior, or alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises.

Trash will be collected several times daily but should be in plastic bags for easy collection. Absolutely no littering will be tolerated, and cooking oil should not be discarded in alleyways, sewers or in local business’s trash cans. Please put all cooking oil into a sealed container and discard in the dumpsters provided.

There are streetlights at frequent intervals on Market Street, but you may need to bring additional lighting. Please keep this in mind when deciding if you need electricity at your space. You may need extension cords to reach your booth. Also, you will need to bring additional hoses to reach the water supply.

Food vendors who do not operate out of an enclosed concession trailer are required to conduct all cooking inside of a screened-in enclosure. This is a requirement of the local health department and will be strictly enforced. Any vendor that does not comply can be asked to leave without a refund. Vendors must comply with the local health department guidelines and any questions or concerns may be answered by the Southern Seven Health Department at 618-524-2657.

Vendors will only be allowed to sell the items approved on your application. Vendors are prohibited from selling the following: Fireworks, Snap-N-Pops, Firearms, Knives, or other weapons, Silly String, Stink Bombs or Oils, Drug Related Items, Confederate Flags and non-family oriented offensive items. Absolutely NO items will be allowed with any Superman artwork of any style unless they are officially licensed D.C. Comic items. Any vendor selling any of these items will be asked to leave and no refund will be made on the vendor fee.

If unapproved merchandise is sold, or if deemed necessary by the Metropolis Chamber, you can be asked to leave the Superman Celebration without a refund.

The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce is required to provide a list of all vendors at the Superman Celebration to the Illinois Department of Revenue. It will be the responsibility of the vendor to provide their sales tax information and sales tax owed to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Returning Vendors should submit their application with payment by March 31, 2024. The Chamber will accept all other applications until May 10, 2024. Please keep in mind that space is limited and vendors selling duplicate items will be chosen on a first come/first serve basis.
